MORE TO STATE DEPT. REFUGEE PLAN THAN
APPARENT
The US has proposed to settle the
Arab refugees in several countries. What hope does it
have of agreement by the Arab states, who always opposed
a normal solution? On the other hand, these states may
have tired of those troublesome elements. Troublesome
they are, not only for having committed coups and mayhem
but also for threatening to assassinate Arab leaders who
don't support them.
The Arab states probably would force
their Palestinian Arabs into the PA, anyway. The
refugees, for all their talk about returning, may well
fear the brutal PA police. They know that their kinsmen
interrogated by the PA "returned crippled or not at
all." But Arafat would not refuse them entree, as he
really should, because his economy is too impoverished
to take care of them. What economy, anyway? His PA is a
base for racketeering and warring. The more people, the
bigger his army.
The Arabs sent to Israel plus those
who sneak into Israel and those who plunder Israel would
severely strain the viability of a state of war-weary
Jews. Does the State Dept. foresee the war and misery
its plan would inflict? How could it not? Then it
doesn't expect to help the refugees but foist some upon
Israel. The PA's goal must be the elimination of Israel
at non-US hands (Emanuel Winston, Jewish Press, 3/5,
p.53).
PA WON'T ABSORB THE REFUGEES
The PLO Refugee Dept. said, however,
that a PA state would be one of the host states for the
refugees. The PA advocates that the refugees be returned
to their homes in Israel AND compensated for deprivation
of property (Arutz-7, 3/4).
They start a war and demand
compensation for losing it!
ISLAMIC VIEW OF MINORITY RIGHTS
3/9/99 ARABS & ISRAEL 2707:
Occupation In Yesha Over 1,350 years
ago, Caliph Umar codified the relations between Muslims
and non-Muslims, under Islam. The rulers reserved
discretion over how much freedom and prosperity to leave
Jews and Christians. The infidels paid a tax, "jizya,"
for a revokable right to hold property and for
practicing their religions (Jewish Political Chronicle,
2/99, p.28 from Freeman Center, "Islamic Anti-semitism,
1/98.)
In view of such discrimination, no
Yesha Jews should be subjected to a PA already
condemned, even by the sympathetic State Dept., for
civil rights violations of fellow Arabs.
